GLOBIGEN DIA STOP
Calves, lambs, goats and piglets are born without adequate immune protection.
Continuous immune support during the first days of life is crucial for successful production afterwards.
In ruminants and piglets, transfer of antibodies to the uterus is not possible given the structure of the placenta.
It is essential to support these animals immediately after their birth to ensure a healthy start.
For animals under pathogenic stress or under various immune challenges, GlobigenDiaStop offers a source of high quality functional proteins (IgY). Diastop provides support for intestine/ruminal health, immunity and other animal challenges.
What is it IgY?
IgY (egg immunoglobulin) are immunoglobulins produced by hens to protect their chicks during their first weeks of life against emerging pathogens. It is the equivalent of immunoglobulin G (IgG) in mammalian colostrum. IgY is a completely natural product. Every egg sold in the supermarket contains IgY.
IgY technology has long been used to provide clear benefits in human medicine and animal production.
The ‘normal’ antibody production in mammals involves painful and stressful procedures such as immunisation, bleeding, and necropsy. The only stress factor in the production of egg antibodies is hyperimmunisation with the pathogen or its parts. The rest – the collection of the eggs – is non-invasive (Ikemori et al., 1993). The European Centre for the Validation of Alternative Methods (ECVAM), one of the European Institutes for Health and Consumer Protection, strongly recommends egg immunoglobulins as an alternative to mammalian antibodies (Schade et al., 1996).
